Six years ago my military husband’s work brought our family to Naples, Italy. Since we had been praying about what God had for us in our post-military life, we knew, even then, that the hand of God was directing our steps. Once in Naples, very quickly I began to understand the depth of the problem of human trafficking. Women prostituting themselves are visible any time of day or night. However, in 2008, I was ill equipped to take even one step toward addressing the problem. I didn’t speak the language, I wasn’t educated in how to respond, and I certainly didn’t know where to begin. However, Thessalonians 5:24 assures us that God equips those whom He calls. God, in His perfect timing, called and equipped me to begin working with women trafficked into prostitution in our area of Italy. The first step was obedience and answering the call to do something.

The primary purpose of Missione di Luce is to begin building relationships with those trapped in a life of prostitution, and to bring the love of Jesus Christ to those who are without hope. We are convinced that the gospel brings true redemption and has the power to break the chains of slavery. When a woman is ready and has the courage, we also provide assistance in leaving the streets. However, this can take time…sometimes many months, or even years. God continues to equip those whom He calls! We continue to seek God’s leading and guiding as the ministry grows. I never thought God would ignite inside of me the passion to battle against this growing form of slavery. But I know, as do others who have joined Missione di Luce, that we have been blessed with the grace and the knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We answer His call, and walk in His mercy, for His purpose, honor and glory…no matter where He leads. Please pray for us.
